APC SMT2200 1980 Watts/2200VA 120V LCD UPS System

To the above Reviewer... All you had to do is just take the 20 AMP plug off and put a 15 AMP plug on. Sure, you can not use the full load capacity but your run time will be great. I modded my own Smart UPA 2200VA over 7 years ago. I am on my second set of batteries with this thing. It still runs stable... Very few pieces of man-made equipment can you say this about. So do not let the plug deter you... or others. Plus it has full sine-wave output... not stepped sine-wave. For example with a stepped sine-wave output, on BATTERY POWER alone, if you plug a florescent bulb into it the bulb would turn on and off, if you were using a regular light bulb you might see it go dim/bright/dim/bright. The stepped sine wave output is a approximation of AC (alternating current) but the sine wave is virtually identical to the power that comes out of the wall. Sine Wave output requires more expensive electronics.Update 1-20-2012My old APC 2200 finally died after 13 years of use. I purchased an in family replacement SMT2200. Modded the plug and put a 15 AMP plug on. I hope this new model gives me just as long as use as the last one.Still 5 stars so far.

Tripp Lite SMART2600RM2U Smart 2600VA 2U Rackmount Line-Interactive UPS (9 Outlets)

This Tripp Lite is the workhorse of my office branches. It has good run time, will take the load of our servers and Power-Over-Ethernet (POE) applications. Always know the load of your devices and do not think that the inexpensive versions will work with connected devices more than once. You will destroy these units if you overload them, so always overspec slightly.Things to know about these are that you need to keep the fan vents clean, so make sure you periodically blow them out to prevent overheating and fan failure. ALSO IMPORTANT TO NOTE that these require a NEMA L5-20P outlet, which has a 90-degree rotated prong (the outlet prongs look like a T on its side), and you need to make sure the AC circuit will support that draw and on a 20A breaker.

APC Smart-UPS SUA1500RM2U 1500VA USB and Serial 2U Rackmount UPS System

I've been using this UPS for a few months now. It's been rock-solid, and it has great linux compatibility. I had an air conditioner on the same circuit for awhile, which is generally a bad idea with computer equipment. However, this UPS caught every single voltage fluctuation and protected my equipment every time the AC compressor kicked in. For linux integration, I use the 'apcupsd' package, which gives me temperature, load and voltage monitoring, as well as network broadcasts to other linux boxes to do network shutdowns.

I use this and the external EBM to run my home network closet with a large server, 2-3 switches, a wireless controller and firewall. I get about 4-6 hours total run time with the EBM. Works great, has yet to let me down.

Cyberpower OL1500RMXL2U UPS - 1500VA/1050W Online Dual Conversion 2U RM/T Puresine 5-20R 3YR

This is a great stable rackmount battery backup with dual-conversion so devices plugged in always get clean power even with a dirty utility.I never did get the built-in USB or serial management interface to work with any open source monitoring tool, so I had to spring for the add-in SNMP card in order to monitor/manage the UPS. With the add-in card, NetAgent web and SNMP work great.I've had the system up and running for 150 days, including several brief power outages, and haven't even had to think about the system, it just works.

APC Smart-UPS SMX1500RM2U X 1200W/1500VA LCD 120V 2U/Tower UPS System

I was getting frequent 5-10 second brown outs in my community and it was causing havoc with my mirrored RAID disk array when my PC would loose power; would take 3 hours to rebuild and verify data integrity. My PC has a newer Active PFC power supply and would not work with my older UPS which did not output a pure sine wave. I also usually have one or two other dedicated servers I use for software development.Did some research and settled on this APC UPS. The UPS has worked flawlessly. Keeping all my expensive servers online during the brown outs and saving a ton of time from the RAID verify/rebuilds that I was suffering from. This unit comes out of the box setup as a rack mountable UPS, but the conversion to stand-up tower mode is very easy to do. Just be aware that this thing is REAL heavy and requires you to flip it around a bit to do the conversion. I ended up with a couple of bruises from resting the unit on my legs. No special power outlets are required. This unit uses the normal household plugs.I have a constant 300-400 watt power requirement with my main PC on; 1200 watt power supply, 4 hard disks, ATI 5800 series graphics card. If I turn on my other two servers I have a 800 watt drain with all 3 computers on. UPS reports 40 minutes of stand-by power if I just use my main PC. It reports 22 minutes of standy-by power if I have all 3 computers running. The front panel LCD display reports a lot of information including current watt usage, stand-by power time, etc...

APC Smart-UPS XL SUA3000XL 2700W/3000VA 5U Tower/Rack Convertible UPS System

This is a substantial item. It will work best rack mounted. You should plan for a dedicated 30 amp 110 volt circuit with a twistlock connector, because that is what it needs and that is what it comes with. Don't cheap out, but buy a rack (StarTech.com 42U Adjustable 4 Post Open Server Equipment Rack Cabinet Computer Case 4POSTRACKBK) and the APC rack mount kit (APC SU032A 4-Post Rackmount Rails). Plan to mount it at the base of your rack, because even with batteries out, you will not lift this very far unless you are an atypical geek who can bench press more than your own weight. The face plate adjusts to the horizontal mode really easily. All this said, it works really well once installed. Mine is running a storage array, three servers, all the network gear, the security system, the backup disks, several other bits of junk, and a big KVM/Monitor switch to manage all the devices in the rack, and just has one load LED lit. Highly recommended for the high end home setup (mine replaced 4 smaller UPSs which were all bought at the same time and whose batteries oddly needed replacing all at the same time!) or a data closet for a small business or branch office.

Tripp Lite SU3000RTXL3UHV Smart Online 3000VA 3U Rackmount UPS with Extended Runtime (8 Outlets)

We tried out a few batteries and had issues with them. This product was exactly what we were looking for. We have a server rack and the PDUs (power distribution units) were taking their power via 220volt. So we were in a bind. There are two pdus in the rack, so we needed some kind of solution with two twist lock 220volt outlets. So far this has been the only unit we have found that meets that spec. It has optional SNMP, that we aren't using. We just wanted a buffer in case of a brown out. It also has connectivity that will manage computers in case of a power loss. (saving, closing programs and that kind of thing). I originally wanted USB connectivity, but now that I know this has a serial connection or optional lan connectivity. I can make use of either of them. We are very pleased with this unit. Not the cheapest, but well worth it for the features we were trying to get. Thank you for your time.

Smart-ups Rt 3000VA 120V Nema L5-30P 8OUT

The product description says this is "Tower/Rack-mountable" and although the enclosed instructions show removable "feet" for use as a Tower model, there were no "feet" enclosed. I called APC and inquired about the missing "feet" and they said this is a rack mountable model only and no "feet" are available.I purchased two of these, one to be mounted in a rack and one to be used as a tower. The one that is used as a tower is so heavy and has no side to side support, I am afraid it will tip over and break someone's foot/ankle/leg.I guess I'm going to have to make some kind of homemade support bracket to stabilize this. It would have been nice to have known that before I ordered.Five stars on the rack model. One star on the "tower" model. Thanks APC/Amazon.

APC Smart-UPS SUA2200RM2U 2200VA USB and Serial 2U Rackmount UPS System

Purchased 2 of these for our small office servers and other electronics in the server closet. Observations:- It plugs into 110 volt outlet, but it's a special type of plug (unlike the typical three-prong plug)!- They are heavy. About 120 pounds per unit. Get help getting these out of the box.- They only take up 2U rack space, which is great as they don't take up much real estate.- Due to their weight, you probably want to put them at the bottom of your rack.- You can remove the 40 pound battery pack out of the UPS (as recommended in the instructions), install the UPS shell, and then reinstall the battery.- The front bezel is removed when the UPS is delivered to you.- The UPS comes with mounting screws and brackets.- The battery pack slides into an opening on the left side of the UPS, and the plug that connects to the battery is in the front, making future battery changes effortless.- The included software works well. After installing the software Agents, the APC Server software recognized both units and reported on their vital stats. The two units were connected to two different physical servers.- Build quality is good.- The off button is slightly recessed, thus avoiding accidental turn-off of the UPS.I have used APC UPSs for many many years, and trusted my clients' businesses with them (when I worked a different profession). Now I trust my business with them.

APC SURTA3000XL 3000VA 120V UPS System

This is an online dual-conversion UPS, chosen for 3 reasons: 1) To isolate equipment from power line fluctuations and noise at all times. 2) To allow running the UPS reliably from a standby generator. 3) To allow the addition of external battery packs (we have added 2). The UPS has performed fine, as expected from APC products. This included a test running on the standby generator. The price was excellent from vendor Aprisa Technology and was shipped quickly. The system was new stock, manufactured in 2011.
